Being a nurturing mother is one of the greatest contributions to mankind.

The love, care, and dedication we pour into our children are unmatched. But let's be honest—this often comes at a price.

The physical and emotional challenges are just the beginning. Many of us also make the ultimate sacrifice: putting our careers on hold.

I know this struggle all too well...

In my early twenties, I became a mother of two beautiful children, just a year apart. With no one to help, I had to make a choice: be a stay-at-home mom or continue pursuing my career.

I chose to be at home. And while raising my children was incredibly rewarding, it wasn't easy.

The stress was overwhelming. I didn’t even realize how deeply it was affecting me until I found myself battling depression. I turned to stress eating and watched as the pounds piled on.

Two years went by, and I came to a realization: it wasn’t motherhood that was making me feel this way—it was the lack of purpose and identity that came with not working.

So, I started searching for opportunities online, working a few hours a week to make some decent money.

That was nearly two decades ago.

I chose work that allowed me to raise my kids without needing external help. I was there for every school meeting, every celebration, every milestone. I even homeschooled them for five years.

My choices defined the destinations

Finding the right opportunities has shaped my career, guiding me toward success and fulfillment in my professional life. Each choice has been a stepping stone to who I am today.

How did I manage to find such fulfilling work that offered this level of flexibility?

My Path Forward

My biggest strengths were

• Communication skills

• empathy

• listening

• nurturing

• patience

I looked for jobs that needed these skills as their top skills, yet, going me the flexibility to be with my boys as much as possible.

Through the last two decades, starting form being a Virtual assistant to a teacher, a trainer, a coach, and even a language evaluator for the world’s largest English test.

My career evolved over time, and so did my earnings:

- 20 years ago: Earned ₹9,000 per month (full-time before becoming a mother

- 15 years ago: Earned ₹80,000 per month (working only 24 hours/week)

- 5 years ago: Earned between ₹200,000-₹280,000 as an examiner (chose my workdays, about 15 days/month)

- 1 year ago: Earned ₹200,000 monthly as an examiner trainer (Post Corona, wanted to WFH)

- Now: Coaching students privately, earning around ₹300,000 per month for just 50 hours of work

You can do it too, though the times have changed and have the world

What made me successful may be too difficult a path to choose today for the competition and over-crowding. But, I have a better path for you...
